Person County's board of commissioners is made up of five elected members. The board of commissioners governs the county. The primary duties of the board include hiring a county manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the county, establishing the property tax rates, adopting an annual budget, appointing members to boards and commissions, and adopting policies, resolutions, and local laws (also known as ordinances). Commissioners also serve as liaisons on various local and state committees.
In 2024, voters in North Carolina will be asked to show photo ID when voting. Most voters will show their driver’s license, but there are many other acceptable photo IDs. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without a photo ID. If a voter cannot show photo ID when voting in person, they can still vote by filling out an ID Exception Form. source: ncsbe.gov
